Ponlit’s adventure began in 1996 when we started our first mining company, Bülbüller Madencilik LTD where we supply Perlit and Pumice stone for the fashion industry out of Turkey. Our urge to live in a healthier world led us to pursue a greater mission and break the defined rules of garment finishing processes. Supplying Pumice stone to the Jean manufacturers and laundries was the easiest way, on the other hand for a better world we believed we needed smart solutions. That was the moment we dreamed on what would happen if we made a Jean look the best of it without the pumice stone. After a 8 year- roller coaster ride of prototype experiment and all- inclusive research, with the passion for a more sustainable and clean fashion mindset we architectured NoMoreStone. Pumice stone enhances the condition of soil that is needed to grow plants. Due to its penetrable surface, pumice stones carries water and oxygen to the roots of plants so pumice stone creates the perfect condition for soil fertility and supports agriculture.

Using pumice stone in garment wash harms nature and laundry systems

Pumice stones melt easily during washing process and need to be recharged a couple of times during washing. Melted pumice stone mingles homogeneously into water along with the chemicals carried during washing processes which makes it very hard to recycle. Garments need to be rinsed extravagantly to remove the pumice dust on the garments. Pumice stone is a thirsty mean and pollutes the fresh water. Increases the number second quality garment in laundry processes as it decreases wear and tear values of fabric. Pumice stone harms drums of machines, so machines require regular and higher maintenance.
